Rio Ferdinand, a former Man Utd team-mate of Paul Pogba reveals the Frenchman told him when he was leaving Old Trafford to become the best in the world.
Pogba left United four years ago after growing frustrated by his lack of opportunities at the club.
Ferdinand is however convinced that Pogba has the focus required to live up to the £100 million expected to bring him back to Manchester United.
“I speak to Paul. I know him,” Ferdinand commented. “For Paul it’s all about football. It’s not about money.
“The biggest things for me and my family [when I moved to United] was not the money. It was: ‘What’s Giggsy like? What’s Roy Keane like?’
He added: “Paul’s like that. He loves football. It’s all about improving and being the best.
“When he left I asked him why and he said: ‘I want to be the best player in the world.’ He’s on the right track.”
Pogba is set to become the first £100 million footballer in history whne he officially leaves Juventus for United.
The 23-year-old will be expected to hit the ground running having spent the earlier part of his career at Old Trafford.
