Samasung Urges Consumers to Immediately Stop Using Galaxy Note 7 After Some Catched Fire

Samsung Electronics Company has told consumers to stop using Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones immediately and exchange them as soon as possible, as more reports of the phones catching fire emerged even after company's global call.

The call from the South Korean company, the world's largest smartphone maker, comes after U.S. authorities urged consumers to switch the Galaxy Note 7 off and not to use or charge it during a flight. Several airlines around the world asked travelers not switch on the jumbo smartphone or put it in checked baggage, with some carriers banning the phone on flights.

In a statement posted on its website, Samsung asked users around the world to "immediately" return their existing Galaxy Note 7 and get a replacement.

"We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note 7s and exchange them as soon as possible," Koh Dong-jin, Samsung's mobile president, said in the statement. "We are expediting replacement devices so that they can be provided through the exchange program as conveniently as possible."

Consumers can visit Samsung's service centers to receive rental phones for temporary use. Samsung plans to provide Galaxy Note 7 devices with new batteries in South Korea starting Sept. 19, but schedules for other countries vary.
Earlier this month, Samsung announced an unprecedented recall of 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7s worldwide just two weeks after the phone was launched. That move came after Samsung's investigation into reports of fires found that rechargeable lithium batteries manufactured by one of its suppliers were at fault.

The U.S. was among the first countries to take a step following the recall. Late Friday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission urged owners of the phone to turn them off and leave them off. It also said it was working with Samsung and hoped to have an official recall "as soon as possible."

The recall by the safety commission will allow the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to ban passengers from carrying the phones on planes. The FAA already warned airline passengers late Thursday not to turn on or charge the Galaxy Note 7 during flights and not to put the smartphone in their checked bags.
Scandinavian Airlines said Saturday that it has prohibited passengers from using the Galaxy Note 7 on its flights because of concerns about fires. Singapore Airlines has also banned the use or charging of the device during flights.

Samsung said it had confirmed 35 cases of the Galaxy Note 7 catching fire as of Sept. 1, most of them occurring while the battery was being charged.

There are at least two more cases that Samsung said it is aware of — one at a hotel in Perth, Australia, and another in St. Petersburg, Florida, where a family reported that a Galaxy Note 7 left charging in their Jeep had caught fire, destroying the vehicle.

Samsung released the Galaxy Note 7 on Aug. 19. The Galaxy Note series is one of the most expensive lineups made by Samsung.

Former First lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, has allegedly told Federal High Court that the sum of $31.4 million involved in an alleged fraud case before a Federal High Court in Lagos, that was frozen, belongs to her.

According to Guardian, counsel to the first defendant in charge with case number FHC/337C/16, Gboyega Oduwole, informed the court that Patience Jonathan filed a fundamental application against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), claiming ownership of the money.

The EFCC had taken former presidential aide, Amajuoyi Azubike Briggs, former Skye Bank official, Damola Bolodeoku, Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited to court in an alleged $31.4 million fraud involving the companies without addresses.

Others also charged include Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited, Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited and Globus Integrated Services Limited.

According to an application filed on September 6th, with file number FHC/L/C5/1233/16, the former First lady allegedly asked the court to make an order for the enforcement of her fundamental rights, in terms of reliefs she sought, and naming as defendants, the EFCC and Skye Bank Plc.

The former first lady asked the court to make a declaration that the fund standing to the credit of four of the companies and an account in her own name in Skye Bank belonged to her. She also asked the court to declare that the action of the respondents in placing a No Debit/Freezing Order on the said accounts without any order of a competent court of law or prior notice to her, to be in breach of her fundamental rights as contained in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Video- Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz donates $20 million to defeat Donald Trump

Facebook billionaire co-founder Dustin Moskovitz has donated $20 million dollars to Clinton campaign organisation to defeat the Republican nominee Donald Trump.

The Billionaire co-founder of Facebook says that he is giving $20 million dollars away to help to defeat Donald Trump in November election, he called the Republican presidential candidate divisive and dangerous candidate and Trump's appeals to Americans who left behind "quite possibly a deliberate con."
Dustin Moskovitz says Democrats and their nominee, Hillary Clinton, are running on a vision of optimism, pragmatism, inclusiveness and mutual benefit.

The facebook billionaire wrote about the donation in a Thursday night posting on the website Medium.
“As a nation, we need to figure out how to bring everyone with us, and we believe the Democratic platform currently is more aligned with ensuring that happens,” he wrote.

“In comparison, Donald Trump’s promises to this group are quite possibly a deliberate con, an attempt to rally energy and support without the ability or intention to deliver. His proposals are so implausible that the nation is forced to worry that his interest in the presidency might not even extend beyond winning a contest and promoting his personal brand.”

Moskovitz said he and his wife, Cari Tuna, are giving half of their $20 million to the League of Conservation Voters and to the For Our Future political action committee. The latter group is a get-out-the-vote effort in battleground states that is paid for primarily by labour unions and hedge fund billionaire Tom Steyer.

Moskovitz and Tuna also are giving directly to Clinton’s campaign and to party committees helping Senate and congressional Democrats, he said.

Moskovitz’s political giving makes him the second-largest Democratic contributor of the election, after Steyer.

John Kerry Says Agreement Reached With Russia to Reduce Violence and Crisis in Syria (Videos)

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has announced on Friday that the U.S and Russia have reached an agreement to reduce violence in war-torn Syria and allow humanitarian access in the country.
Kerry said that the agreement calls for a nationwide ceasefire and begin at sunset on Sept. 12. Only if the ceasefire holds for seven days, it could lead to Russian and U.S. military coordination.

"If this arrangement holds, then we will see a significant reduction in violence across Syria." Kerry said in an address in Geneva.

The agreement also involves pullbacks from both sides in a major road in the war-torn city of Aleppo and the creation of a demilitarized zone, and unhindered humanitarian access.

Under the agreement the U.S. would work with opposition groups and the Russians with the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad to make sure the cease fire holds.

"I want to emphasize: These measures can only be implemented effectively if all the parties live up to their obligations," Kerry said.

John Kerry further added  that if legitimate opposition groups want to be considered legitimate parties they need to distance themselves in every way possible from the terror groups al-Nusra Front and ISIS.

"And we expect that Russia will ensure that the Syrian government will adhere to all of its requirements about its air activities and about the access for humanitarian deliverance." Kerry said.

Kerry further shed light on the deal that the agreement would involve a joint center to share initial information and delineate territories controlled by opposition groups as part of the broader peace effort.

Eventually, U.S. and Russian experts could work together to defeat ISIS and al-Nusra in the country, Kerry said.

Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said whether the U.S. and Russia cooperate militarily is dependent on a sustained ceasefire. But ceasefire is ceasefire, Syrians needs ceasefire and both parties involved must respect the deal.
