FG not persecuting or prosecuting former President Jonathan & his wife, Patience – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said the Federal Government is not persecuting former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience. Reacting to reports of $15 million found in an account owned by Patience Jonathan, Lai Mohammed said it will be wrong for anyone to claim that the Federal government was probing the former first lady family as it was Patience Jonathan herself who came out to claim the foreign currency found in a strange account operated by a former aide of Jonathan.

He said this in an interview with journalists in Oro, Kwara State yesterday tuesday September 13th.
“If you look at the history of Mrs. Patience Jonathan’s issue, I think she was the one that came out to claim that the money found in the accounts of one of the aides to the former President, her husband, belonged to her. It was not the EFCC that claimed so. She claimed that the money that the guy was being prosecuted for belonged to her. It was only then they later found an extra $5m in another account. It is not as if anybody has gone out to probe Mrs. Jonathan directly or indirectly. Rather Mrs. Jonathan was the one that said ‘that money for which you are accusing Mr. X actually belongs to me. So, you cannot start talking of prosecution or persecution”he said.

Former First Lady Patience Jonathan claims $15m Frozen in her bank accounts are for medical bills, personal expenses

Former first lady, Patience Jonathan, has written a letter to the EFCC explaining how $15 million entered her account. In a letter with reference number GA/Abibo/00226/2016, written by her lawyers, Granville Abibo (SAN) and Co, and addressed to the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, the former first lady said the $15 million which has been seized by the anti-graft agency, was for her medical bills and other personal expenses, according to Sahara Reporters...

"It is noteworthy to emphasise that the said accounts, which were in US dollar denomination, were card-based accounts and our client is the sole signatory to these accounts. However, our client has been operating the said accounts using the cards for her medical bill payments and purchases for her private purposes without any let or hindrance. Our client was therefore surprised when the said cards stop functioning on July 7, 2016, or thereabout. Our client immediately, thereupon, contacted Skye Bank Plc through our solicitors. It was only then that the bank officials informed our client that the said accounts were placed on a ‘No Debit Order’ following investigations and instruction from your commission and this is without notice to our client by either the bank or the commission. It is in the light of the foregoing that we urge you to use your good offices to vacate the ‘No Debit/Freezing Order’ placed on the said accounts.”
Patience in the letter stated that the operatives of the anti-graft agency have refused to acknowledge her explanation
“Despite the foregoing, our client, who is a law-abiding citizen, has watched with surprise how efforts are being made surreptitiously to indirectly harass or harangue her and short-change her of her personal funds in breach of her fundamental human rights. We urge you sir, to kindly intervene to stop the untoward and wrongful actions of your officials to embarrass, inconvenience and short-change our client.”the letter said
Patience Jonathan during her husband's time in office had seven surgeries within a month for an undisclosed ailment in Germany. During a thanksgiving service in February 2013, she revealed that she lost consciousness for ‎a week during one of her surgeries.

'Is this 'famine' the progress we are seeking? Is it really better than the corruption we did away with?' - OAP Freeze asks

As OAP Freeze shared via his Instagram page.

"I thought corruption was the worst thing a nation can endure, until I saw the suffering and poverty my people are going through. A month ago, a keg of vegetable oil was N4,200, one week later it rose to N4,800.

Yesterday I sent my maid to the market with 5k and she returned home empty handed, oil is now N5,500. If you see the small ram we killed for ileya, it was nothing compared to the humongous one we ate during the 'corrupt' regime."

"I know the government is trying to fix Nigeria, and I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but what about those that will die of hunger and lack, inside the tunnel, never to reach the light? Everything is going up and salaries are coming down, companies are shutting down and with the airlines folding up, transportation is becoming crazy.

I look around me and all I see is suffering and hunger. Yes I am proud of the fact that Nigeria is not as corrupt as it used to be, but is this 'famine' the progress we are seeking? Is it really better than the corruption we did away with? What do you guys think?"

Lil Wayne: " I'm Retiring Because of Birdman, But Things Can Change (Video)

Rapper Lil Wayne says he IS retired from music, at least, for now  and it's all over his war with Birdman.

The rapper just appeared on "Undisputed" on FS1, where Skip Bayless got straight to the point and asked if his tweets about retiring from music earlier this month were real.

The explanation. Weezy says when he posted the tweet, he was PISSED OFF following a heated argument over his business relationship with Cash Money Records.

Wayne claims Birdman owes him millions and it's having a real impact on his personal life.
"I have a family. I have kids. I have a mother. We have bills. This is just business."
Wayne says he will NEVER work with Birdman ever again -- and for all intents and purposes, considers himself retired ... at least, until he gets paid.

He did send this message to his former boss. "Gimme mine and I'll walk free."
It's clear Wayne WANTS to make music again, because he told Skip he hasn't even come close to reaching the height of his career.
