Video:Billionaire George Soros pledged to invest $500 million to save the refugees- Read his plan to save migrants

Billionaire George Soros, the chairman and founder of the Open Society Foundations, pledged up to $500 million of his own private capital to aid the global crisis of forced migration.

“I’m a refugee myself,” Soros said at the Concordia Summit in New York. Soros was a teenager when the Nazis occupied Hungary. He moved to London in 1947.

“In those days, there were fewer of us around and we were better treated,” Soros said.

The 86-year-old hedge fund manager pointed out that the current refugee crisis is new, but economic migration has been going on forever.

He considers the refugee and migration crisis “the most pressing problem,” and it’s one of his top priorities. His pledge of $500 million is his answer to President Barack Obama’s “call to action” for US companies to play a bigger role in meeting the challenges posed by refugees and migration.

The money Soros pledged will be used to invest in startups, companies, social impact initiatives and businesses started by refugees. The investments will be held by Soros’ non-profit organization, and the profits will fund Open Society Foundation programs, including ones that benefit refugees.

His plan to solve the refugee crisis is built on his seven pillars that include:

The European Union (EU) must take on a substantial number of refugees directly from front-line countries in a secure orderly way. This will be far more acceptable than the current disorder.
The EU must regain control of its borders. There is little that scares and alienates the public more than scenes of chaos.
The EU must have a way to generate economic growth. We estimate refugees will require $30 billion a year for several years. The plan explains the benefits of what he calls “surge funding.”
The EU must build a common mechanism to protect borders.
We need a voluntary matching mechanism to relocate refugees. The EU can’t coerce EU states to accept refugees they don’t want. Canada sets a standard. This shows how far the EU has to go.
The EU must offer far greater support to countries outside its borders that host large numbers of refugees. It must be more generous to Africa. It must offer genuine grand bargain, creating jobs in African countries where some migrants originate, which would reduce the number that wants to migrate.
Create a welcoming environment for migrants. All evidence shows migrants can contribute significantly to innovation and development if they are given the chance to do so.

Brad Pitt expresses sadness over divorce

Actress Angelina Jolie has filed for a divorce from actor Brad Pitt, her husband of two years and romantic partner since 2005, her attorney said on Tuesday, signalling the end of one of Hollywood’s most glamorous and powerful couples.

“This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time,” attorney Robert Offer said in a statement.

The Oscar-winning actress filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences, court documents showed. Jolie sought full physical custody of their six children ages 8 to 15 with visitation rights for Pitt but did not seek spousal support. Jolie cited their separation date as Sept. 15.

“I am very saddened by this but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids, I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.” Pitt told People magazine.

Jolie and Pitt, known collectively as “Brangelina,” were one of the entertainment world’s most visible couples, due to their good looks, successful films and activism. They married in 2014 after a decade together.

Their relationship was steady fodder for tabloids with reports focusing on what role Jolie played in the breakup of Pitt’s marriage to actress Jennifer Aniston and, more recently, possible trouble in the marriage.

Media commentators reacted with surprise and sadness to the news. “Today shall go down as the day love died,” Vogue magazine said in an online report on the couple’s split.

Social media buzzed with #brangelina mentioned roughly 720 times per minute on Twitter, more than triple mentions for the United Nations General Assembly, according to analytics firm Zoomph.

Jolie, 41, who won a best-supporting actress Oscar for “Girl, Interrupted” in 2000, was previously married to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.

Pitt, 52, was married to Aniston in 2003 when he and Jolie filmed “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” the story of assassins unknowingly assigned to kill each other. There were reports of an affair, but Jolie told Vogue they were only “very, very good friends” until Pitt and Aniston split in 2005.

Before their August 2014 wedding at their French estate, Jolie and Pitt had said they would not wed until same-sex couples were allowed to marry.

Read former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright touching story as a refugee in the U.S.

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright 79 shared her touching story about how she was a refugee in the United States, and how she became U.S. citizen after second world war. She was Secretary of State from 1997-2001.
Read below:

“I was born in Czechoslovakia just two years before Hitler’s troops marched into Prague. My father was a diplomat and a strong supporter of democracy. So my parents and I fled to England, which is where we spent the Second World War. I was eight when the war ended and we returned to Prague, but then the Communists took over and my family was once again forced into exile as refugees, this time in a new and welcoming land — the United States of America.

Becoming a U.S. citizen is the most important thing that ever happened to me, and my family always considered ourselves grateful Americans. My father said that when we were in Europe during WWII people would say, ‘We are sorry for your troubles and hope that you have everything you need; by the way, when will you be leaving to go back home?’ But in America, people said: ‘We are sorry for your troubles and hope that you have everything you need; by the way, when will you become a citizen?’ Although it is accurate to describe me as a refugee, I have always tried to make clear that my family was not a hardship case. We did not have to escape through barbed wire. We did not have much money, but we did come on diplomatic passports. So I cannot pretend to know what it is like to endure even a fraction of what the roughly 21 million refugees worldwide are going through today. But I do know what it is like to be uprooted and to be unable to return home. I cannot imagine what it would have been like to be turned away at the door, or even worse, treated as a potential threat.
President Obama embraces our American values of being an open and welcoming nation, built by immigrants and refugees. He’s living up to what he pledged to do in taking in 85,000 refugees this year, including 10,000 Syrian refugees, and he has pledged to increase these goals for next year to 110,000 refugees overall. And with refugees undergoing the most rigorous screening, he’s shown we can welcome them while ensuring our own safety. Today, he is hosting a summit at the United Nations to encourage more nations to do more. It’s very important that we set an example, just as the President has done.” —Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

Pep Guadiola says that Yaya Toure will not play for Manchester City until his agent apologise to the club

Manchester City manager,  Pep Guadiola has asked for an apology from Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure 's outspoken agent, Dimitri Seluk, regarding comments he made about him and the club recently.

Toure, 33, has made only one appearance for City this season and was left out of their Champions League squad, this prompted a response from Seluk who said Toure had been ‘humiliated’ by his former Barcelona Coach.  Guardiola who felt Toure's agent was being disrespectful, says he will not play Toure until Seluk apologises.

After Yaya  was left out of City's Champions League squad, His Agent Seluk said to the media:

"It is Pep's decision and we must respect that.  If he wins the Champions League for City this season then I will travel to England and I will say on television that Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world. But if City don't win the Champions League then I hope that Pep has got the balls to say that he was wrong to humiliate a great player like Yaya.
"Yaya is a professional and so he will do everything he is asked to do. Perhaps Pep will think he is good enough to play in the final 10 minutes of a League Cup game against a third division team – and, yes, I am joking. But what I can tell you is that Yaya will spend the season at City. He will not be leaving in January. He hopes that he will get the chance to prove himself.'
Explaining the reason why Toure will not be considered for Wednesday's tie at Swansea, Guardiola warned that the 33-year-old midfielder could be frozen out completely for the remaining eight months of his £220,000-a-week contract  unless Seluk apologises.
'It was so difficult for me to leave him (Toure) out of the Champions League, so difficult,' said Guardiola. 'I know him and I know he's a good guy.
The day after his manager spoke and in that moment Yaya is out. Except Mr Dimitri Seluk comes back in the press conference or to his friends in the media – because he hasn't the courage to call me, he goes to the media . He has to apologise to Manchester City first of all, then his team-mates, and afterwards the trainer.  When that happens Yaya will be part of the group and he will have the chance to play.
'I cannot accept as a coach every agent when his player doesn't play he goes to the media and speaks. I know how much Dimitri Seluk loves Yaya Toure. If he loves him, show me by apologising to Manchester City for what he did in the papers.
'I cannot imagine in my day when a player's agent would go to the media and speak against Johan Cruyff. Maybe it's the new era but I'm old generation, and an old generation agent has to make his players his job and the coach his job. Today agents believe they are more than they are. If you have a problem, we can talk. Until he speaks, Yaya isn't going to play.
