Former Super Eagles of Nigeria and Ajax of Amsterdam striker collapsed on the pitch yesterday while he was participating in an exhibition match organised by the club to mark the 50th anniversary of the club. The 36 years old was rushed to the hospital yesterday August 20 in Amsterdam Holland where he received proper treatment.
Pius Ikedia was playing with former Ajax players during an exhibition match, when he suddenly fell to the ground. He was immediately revived on the field, before he was taken to the hospital.
"It was a close shave with death for Pius. We only thank God that with proper care, we were not celebrating the death of another Nigeria football star on the pitch.” a top source told AfricanFootball.
Thank God we didn't lose Pius Ikedia.
