President Obama discussed with President Putin at G-20 world economic summit in China. The duo spoke on the sidelines of the G-20 summit on Monday, hours after the U.S and Russia failed to strike a deal for cease-fire in Syria.
The U.S. president shook hands with his Russian counterpart in front of cameras in Hangzhou, where world leaders were meeting to discuss topics including trade and global security.
Then they sat down for talks. The meeting lasted around 90 minutes, according to The Associated Press.
A U.S. official at the event told Reuters that Obama and Putin discussed both the Syria war and Ukraine crisis in Hangzhou, China. Dmitry Peskov AP Kremlin spokesman told reporters that the meeting was longer than expected , he said that it went well and it was businesslike meeting. Peskov further added that work will continue, that the talking was a successful one.
The meeting between Obama and Putin came hours after Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov have failed to reach a deal on a Syria ceasefire deal. It was the second time both Russian foreign Minister and Secretary of State failed to reach agreement on ceasefire deal in Syria. More photos and videos below.
