Star Nigeria announces partnership with Arsenal Football Club
Star has announced a new partnership with Arsenal Football Club at an event at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.
The partnership agreement, first of its kind in a beer category in Nigeria is a major milestone for Arsenal and Star. The partnership will see Arsenal and Star work together for five years to facilitate greater excitement, build closer access and deeper engagement between the European club and lovers of football in Nigeria.
Speaking on the partnership, Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries, Franco Maria- Maggi said the partnership is another demonstration of Star’s commitment to its consumers’ with the biggest passion for football.
“We are very happy and proud to make this announcement. The overall objective for us in this partnership is to bring more excitement to our consumers,” said Maria- Maggi.
“As you know already, football is Nigeria’s biggest passion and we have supported this passion for many years. Our ground-breaking support for the fans through the “Shine On Naija” campaign during the 2014 is an example of how far we can go to galvanize and support fans of football all across Nigeria.
“Our commitment to that remains total and we believe this partnership, the first of its kind in our category in Nigeria, is a clear attestation to that. We are excited by this partnership but we are even more excited about the amazing opportunities this opens up for our consumers, lovers of good football and the Nigerian football eco-system in general.”
The partnership designates Star as Arsenal’s “Beer partner” and “Official partner” in Nigeria. The foremost beer brand is authorised to use Arsenal’s trademarks and imagery of the club’s players in the likes of Mezut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Petr Cech, Laurent Kolscieny and Nigerian born Alex Iwobi including other elements of Arsenal Football Club to feature in its advertising and marketing campaigns.
“As you might be aware, Star is all about premium quality, excitement and fun. Arsenal belongs to a unique circle of premium football clubs and they are probably the most exciting in terms of the quality of football they play so you can see it is a perfect fit,” remarked Portfolio Manager, Nigerian Breweries Plc Tokunbo Adodo.
“This partnership is all about adding more excitement to the lives of our consumers and football lovers across the country. That’s what we have done through our various sponsorships and platforms and this is yet another step in that direction. Arsenal is one of the most prestigious football clubs in the world with hundreds of millions of followers all across the world. The club has a long history and relationship with Nigerian football, dating back to the late 1990s when football legend, Kanu Nwakwo joined Arsenal and won many laurels.
Presently, a member of the Super Eagles Alex Iwobi has broken into the Arsenal team and has emerged as the latest star from the club’s academy. Also, Chuba Akpom, another Nigerian born player has featured and scored in first team games for the club and tipped to follow in the steps of Iwobi in the nearest future.
