A taxi driver locked two teenage girls in his cab and drove them to a police station because they were 60p short of the full fare, it has been claimed.
Yeva Wilcox and Sophie Heath (pictured above), both 18, say their driver in Newcastle-under-Lyme was angry with them when they didn’t have enough money to pay a £6.80 fare.
They had been out clubbing when they took an Intercity Private Hire cab home.
However, when they reached Ms Heath’s home at 3am and informed the driver they were 60p short, he asked them to go inside and wake up her parents to get the money, the teenagers claimed.
The passengers said the driver accused them of ‘making fun of him’.
They posted about the incident on Snapchat on Friday, using laughter emojis, saying: ‘It’s 60p, you’re not going to die from 60p.’
When it was clear the extra 60p was not going to be paid, he drove the teenagers to a nearby police station.
‘He kept telling us he was going to die because of 60p and was quite upset about it,’ Ms Heath told the Mail Online.
‘He drove past police cars and kept flashing them with his lights but no one cared about the situation.
‘The police weren’t bothered so he told us to get out of his taxi about a 20-minute walk from my house and drove off.’
Ms Wilcox published a video of the incident on her Twitter account.
